Host Family :)

 Padua, Italy :)
It's taken me a while to write another post on my blog, but at this point I know where I will be living and who I will be living with! My host parent's names are Giancarlo and Luisa Barzon and they have 3 kids, Francesco-16, Luica-15 and Angela-2. They live in Padua which is 30 KM from Venice and have a vacation home in the mountains :) I have been e-mailing with them for several weeks now, sending pictures back and forth and hope to Skype with them soon! I am so excited to spend my year with them and they seem like the perfect family for me. I will be able to play soccer in Italy, go mountain climbing, scouting, and any other adventure that presents itself. I can't wait to make the most of every second I have in my 10 months in Italy and see the world!

THANK YOU

Thank you so so much to everyone who has been following my blog and thank you so much for donating towards my tuition!! Anything up to $500 I raise in April will be doubled by AFS and I think it is very possible for me to get to $500 thanks to everyone who has donated! I still have the goal of raising $5,000 (which can be raised after April) and I believe that goal can be achieved too. Thank you so much again and I'll keep everyone posted with any more details I get about my journey. As of now, I have been accepted by Italy and am now waiting for a host family!  Thank you all again!

First Offficial Blog

  • Hello friends and blog followers! :)
  • My name is Allyson Cousino and I have applied to study abroad with AFS for my junior year.  At this point I am hoping and wishing I will be spending the year in Italy, learning a whole new language and culture.  I hope to learn about myself and all that I can be through this program and immerse myself into a culture much different than my own.  I hope to meet new people, make lifelong friends and have all new experiences.  Some people are given the chance to go abroad for a few weeks and are incredibly lucky, I can't begin to imagine what a whole year in Europe will be like.  Once I return home I will bring the Italian culture home with me and all my adventures included.  Spending a year in Europe has many exciting aspects, but is also very expensive.  I need help financing my AFS experience because with three siblings in college, my parents don't exactly have extra money hanging from their money tree.  I would love to relieve a money burden of $5,000 from my parents' shoulders and I know I can't fulfill this alone.  I would be ever grateful if you would help make my journey across the world possible.  I have begun raising money for my journey by babysitting as much as possible and looking for open job opportunities.  I have cut back on unnecessary expenses to make my dream a reality.  Thank you so much for your time and your potential donation!
  • Thank you again,
  • Allyson
